Today Not One More had the privilege to speak to the 5th and 6th graders at Big Springs Elementary for the kick off of Red Ribbon Week. The theme for this year’s Red Ribbon Week is “You can be anything you want to be, as long as you are drug free.” Pat Montoya spoke first about the real pressures these young ladies and gentlemen face with social media, bullying, peer pressure and drugs. We were honored to have a guest speaker, former catcher for the San Francisco Giants, Trevor Brown who spent 7 seasons in professional baseball spoke with the students about making good choices to reach their goals. He included a brief question and answer with the star-struck kids before they headed back to class. A huge thanks to the principal Mr. Platt as well as Lacey Noe and all the PTA volunteers who made this happen. It truly does take a village and these kids are our future and yes, they can and will be anything they want to be as long as they are drug free.
